To enhance research literacy and team cohesion, the research group led by Guo Yanbing from the School of Chemistry at Central China Normal University organized academic practice and outdoor team building activities on March 30th, with more than 20 teachers and students participating together.
In the morning, the teachers and students of the research group went to the School of Photochemistry for academic exchange. At the Experimental Technology Center, teachers and students systematically studied the operating principles and application scenarios of large precision instruments such as gas mass spectrometers and magnetron sputtering coating machines, and gained a deep understanding of the research history and cutting-edge achievements of the School of Photochemistry in fields such as photocatalysis and new energy materials. Through on-site operations and explanations from senior colleagues, we have gained a more intuitive understanding of the efficient use of instruments, and have also inspired ideas for subsequent experimental design, "said doctoral student Huang.
In the afternoon, the team moved to Donghu Greenway to carry out outdoor expansion. On the rippling lake surface and amidst the lush cypress forests, teachers and students collaborate in groups to build barbecue grills and prepare ingredients. As the charcoal fire gradually heated up, the "scientific kitchen gods" showed their skills: Master's student Xiao Wang baked golden chicken wings with precise temperature control, praised for "mastering the essence of the Maillard reaction"; The "molecular cuisine grade" garlic oysters developed by the doctoral team have sparked a frenzy. Amidst the swirling smoke from the kitchen, mentors shared interesting stories about their studies, bringing teachers and students closer together.; The subsequent fun games such as "Draw and Guess" and "Team Relay Race" further heated up the atmosphere on site. On weekdays, the laboratory is busy, and such activities not only relax the body and mind, but also bring people closer together, "sighed Master's student Wang.
This event achieved the dual goals of enhancing research capabilities and cultivating teamwork awareness through the forms of "academic+practical" and "professional+fun", injecting new impetus into subsequent research projects.
